Birch Run Boys played their hearts out Monday, but lost to Alma 62-66 in overtime. It was an exciting game and the Panthers gave an outstanding effort in the contest that went into overtime on a 2- point basket made by Gage Marintinus in the waning seconds of regulation. The Panthers were behind by 2 points (15-17) at the end of the 1st quarter, by 3 at halftime (25-28), and by 10 at the end of the third (39-49). But the Panthers outscored Alma in the fourth to bring the game to a 55-55 tie at the end of regulation. We were so close and had our chances, but came up a little short in overtime. Jazon Martinus paced Birch Run with 29 points and 7 rebounds, followed by Gage Martinus who scored 21 points. Keegan Hale had 4 deflections, 3 steals, and took 2 charges. We are back in action tonight (Tuesday) @ Frankenmuth 7:00 start.
