Birch Run boys basketball couldn't over come Bridgeport's size and athleticism losing 34-83 in the District championship game Friday. We committed 25 turnovers, and Bridgeport out rebounded us by 9, and also shot 55.5 % from the floor compared to our 30%. Birch Run played determined basketball from the start, but we couldn't make our out-side shots and free throws (it was also hard to get the ball inside to get off shots) to keep the game within reach. While the loss hurts especially for our seniors who will be missed next season, the guys gave it their best effort. It was the first time in 7 years Birch Run reached and played in the district championship game. Bridgeport jumped to an early first quarter score of 5-21 and kept up the pressure and momentum throughout the game for the victory. Jaxon Martinus led with 7 points, Gage Martinus had 5 rebounds. Keegan Hale had 5 steals and 5 deflections to lead the team.
